Description

so from something so odd that I couldn't bring myself to like it to something that may be a bit too familiar... well, only on the outside anyway XD
you can see that its main longitudinal support comes from a backbone-like structure suspended in the middle of a chamber with four gill membranes. the animal can actively draw water into the chamber by a bladder-like pump in the neck area, and then the membranes propell the water out of the chamber through a narrow opening to grant the animal some speed.
all the other organs are in the other "chamber" in the belly.

You seem to have captured quite the charming smile on this simpleton's face. :) I cannot quite tell, but is the dark spot in the middle (the one without a ring) an opening into the body? Otherwise, it seems to me that the digestive and respiratory systems must share both an entrance and an exit. It was a clever thought you had here, using oscillating gill membranes to move fluid throughout the body; if you wished to use this as the basis for a more complex or active organism I'm sure you could use more than four such membranes if you so wished, so long as they didn't move too far or moved in tandem (the more membranes you have, the greater the surface area and the further increased your gas exchange, effectively providing more oxygen).
